Time Freeze
The idea hit after discussing the impact of temperature on the speed of sound between ambient temperature and +200 degree steam pipe. The opportunity above presented itself when an instructor from a day class had left a block of dry ice behind and the idea hit me that I could present this example.
When I demonstrate this next time I will be sure to monitor the temperatures closer so that the cold step wedge does not get so cold that my couplant freezes immediately.
NOTE: Also I must warn anyone trying this to wear gloves and keep the transducer away from the dry ice as well. A frozen crystal will not vibrate so well.
